Winter is approaching faster than you can say “brr!” Many of us spend this busy time of year dreaming of a tropical escape from the frosty air and crazy schedules, but thoughts of sandy beaches and towering palm trees have been replaced with concern for those Caribbean islands affected by recent storms. Although the aftermath of hurricanes Irma and Maria are tragic and will impact some Caribbean islands for years to come, a sizable percentage of the Caribbean region was not impacted, or minimally impacted.
The entirety of the Caribbean spans about 1 million square miles and most of these beach destinations are open and waiting for vacationers.
Tourism is just one way to help the Caribbean get back on its feet. If you can, please contribute to organizations like Tourism Cares or Hispanic Federation, where 100% of your donation goes to affected islands.
